Stamping is a method of forming and processing parts (stamping parts) with required shape and size by applying external force to sheet, strip, pipe and profile by press and die to produce plastic deformation or separation. Stamping and forging belong to plastic processing (or pressure processing), which is called forging. Stamping blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheets and strips.

Of the steel products in the world, 60-70% are sheets, most of which are stamped into finished products. The automobile body, chassis, fuel tank, radiator, boiler drum, container shell, motor, electrical appliances core silicon steel sheet and so on are stamped. Instruments, household appliances, bicycles, office machinery, household utensils and other products, there are also a large number of stamping parts.

Stamping process can be divided into four basic processes:

Punching: Stamping process (including punching, blanking, trimming, cutting, etc.) to separate sheet metal.

Bending: Stamping process that bends the sheet metal along the bending line into a certain angle and shape.

Deep drawing: The stamping process of turning planar sheet metal into various open hollow parts or further changing the shape and size of hollow parts.

Local forming: Stamping processes (including flanging, bulging, leveling and shaping) that change the shape of a blank or stamping part with various local deformations.
